The Ngerena Collection

Ngerena means 'by rank' in Swahili and this colourful collection of necklaces, bracelets and earrings shows off the mix of traditional colours associated with the Maasai.

Each colour represents a different element.

Orange represents hospitality, warmth, friendship & generosity.

Blue represents the sky that provides the water (rain) for the cows which are the source of food.

Red is considered a sacred colour. It represents blood, and it is important for Maasai warriors to wear it as a way to protect themselves .

Green represents the land that provides food for the Maasai and their livestock. It also represents the need to protect territory, and to be rooted in a place.

Yellow represents fertility and growth. It also represents the sun, which sustains life by helping grass, which cattle eat to grow and is considered to be a sign of happiness and prosperity.
