Looking through our extensive timber supply we settled on some very solid 2" thick oak that had come from a recently fallen tree. It had been cut into slabs but importantly still had the bark attached. After some serious strain to our tools (and arms!) we managed to mould a table top from a single piece that we treated, oiled and waxed before attaching some specially sourced hairpin legs. These had to be adjustable to cope with the natural curvature of the wood in order to sit level and true.

I fact, when the client received it, she was so happy...
