Garden Planter Re-Imagined

Do you have a tired old planter... Don't throw it out!

When a lovely local couple from Wells called to ask if we could do something with two old planters in a restricted space, we were intrigued!

The Challenge

The great thing about client commissions we have found is the pure variety and that no two projects are ever the same. This project was no different as our client was very specific in what was wanted...

Firstly the two planters were to be repurposed into a bench and smaller planters that all  needed to fit into a very specific location in a courtyard garden space. No new materials were to be used (except fixings) to maintain the pieces green credentials.

The important first job was to get the planters back to the workshop to be cleaned and to dry out. Luckily for us the clients kindly removed all the existing soil and plants so the job was a little easier! Next we assessed what the design maybe, as it was important not to waste any materials but also create something truly unique.

The Results

After much deliberation... and a scout around our timber store for more decking we arrived at a design that had form as well as function. The seat can support two people comfortably and has adjustable arm so that there is plenty of room not only for arms but that essential glass of wine too! There is also inbuilt storage for gardening sundries and the whole piece has been treated and then double stained to protect against the elements.

Two complimentary planters have also been created and we cannot wait to see pictures of them in full bloom!
