Just Lounging Around!

We do love a good transformation!

After seeing the transformation of the Bacchus chair a friend of our client asked if we could help her too!

The Challenge

This is a great example of why nothing should be discarded because it is a tad rusty and has got to the point where it isn't used. In this case we were delighted to be able to work on a piece that was oozing with classic design.

Yes there was rust and weakened joints but immediately we had a vision for its potential!

So we set about rubbing down and making good the damage all the while thinking about our new clients desire that it just be made the same colour as her friends chair. As with the Bacchus chair we felt that bare metal just doesn't invite you to actually use a piece of furniture and so we had a look around the workshop.

We found some old hardwood picket fence in our stock and whilst it looked in bad shape we knew that underneath it was quality timber. So each piece was cut to size and sanded before we looked at how each could be attached.

To best compliment the design of the lounger we decided to make use of the frame itself in spacing the slats so that any rain could easily run free. Once the frame was sealed and resprayed the slats were then attached using chunky screws to ensure a secure fixing.

The Results

We are so proud of the results as it now screams to be sat on and with the addition of rubber feet to keep it off the ground it is sure to last for the foreseeable future.
